Social Networking: A Purposeful Loss of Privacy

My research topic is Social Networking: A Purposeful Loss of Privacy. The steps I am going to do is, I will look into the social, economical, and political perspectives of the social medias that we are currently using. What are their positive and negative effects? How they impact our daily lives? What if we don't have them? I will try to find different articles in Baruch Library database, and certainly will find them on the reliable and credible website.

  1. This topic is interesting and I think it resonates well with what I am writing about (filter bubbles and how based on your social profile you will see things on your news feed that only matches things that are related to you which essentially blindsides you since you only see one area of social-life).

I think that by providing too little or too much information it can really mess with the social viewership on the platform. With that, the skewed or not-full amount of information can totally impact how one operates and lives, period (sad but true).

I think a good idea would be to survey/research how dependent people are on their social media sources. I think that would give you great insight on your question of "what if we don't have them" and you can really visualize the impact of not having social media.

    Good luck!

  2. I think this has the potential of being a really interesting article in that when examining things through an economical lens, it would be interesting to see if certain platforms like facebook and instagram are economical linchpins that they're crucial to digital and online society. looking forward to a good read!
